Is your child ready to accept Jesus as the Leader and Savior of their life?
Here's what to do!
1. Talk with your child.
If they're ready to make a decision to follow Jesus, they'll be able to tell you that Jesus died to save them, know that they have done wrong things and want God’s forgiveness, and tell you they want Jesus to be their Leader, Savior, and Friend.
"For God loved the world so much that he gave his only Son. God gave his Son so that whoever believes in him may not be lost, but have eternal life." John 3:16
2. Pray with them.
Pray with your child—the prayer below is a great place to start. Ask your child to repeat you line by line, either out loud or in their head as you recite a prayer like this:
“Dear God, I know that I have done wrong things that keep me from being close to you, and I am sorry. Please forgive me. I believe Jesus lived a perfect life. I believe He is your Son. I believe that Jesus died on the cross to save me and that he came back to life! Jesus, I know you love me and I want you to be my Savior and the leader of my life. Amen.”
"If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and if you believe in your heart that God raised Jesus from death, then you will be saved." Romans 10:9
3. Celebrate their decision!
Celebrate the decision your child has made! All of Heaven is celebrating, too!
…there is joy before the angels of God when one sinner changes his heart. Luke 15:10
4. Tell Your Kids Pastor.
We love hearing about a kid’s decision to follow Jesus. Talk to the Kids Pastor at your campus, or fill out the form below to tell us about it so that we can celebrate with you!
5. Encourage Your Child.
Help and encourage your child to learn more and grow closer to Jesus. Here are some ways your child can grow in their faith:
- Come to church on the weekend
- Pray and talk to God every day
- Discuss the Family Discussion Guide together as a family each week
- Ask lots of questions
- Read the Bible
