FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What is “Starting Point”?

The Starting Point seminar covers everything you need to know about membership at Eagle Brook, as well as the mission, vision, values, beliefs, and strategies that you’ll be supporting as a member. It also covers the spiritual growth and spiritual transformation, as well as how you can best serve your local church. Register now.

Where do I get an application form?

You’ll get everything you need to become a member, including your application, faith story instructions, interview signup, etc. at the Starting Point seminar.

What if I’ve already been baptized?

At Eagle Brook, baptism is a public declaration of your faith, and an expression of a decision you made when you could understand what you were doing. If you were baptized as an infant, we ask that you be baptized again – this time, you (not your parents) are the one making the decision to follow Christ. If you made the choice to be baptized by immersion at another church, however, you do not need to repeat your baptism at Eagle Brook. To learn more about what Eagle Brook believes about baptism, pick up a brochure from the Connect at Eagle Brook wall display.

What is the membership covenant?

Eagle Brook’s membership covenant outlines the commitment you are making to this church when you become a member. It’s based on Eagle Brook’s 5 Gs, the key characteristics that lead to a healthy church and worshipful life. This covenant includes the following:

  • Grace (Ephesians 2:8-9, Ephesians 4:32)
-› As a follower of Jesus Christ, I believe that He is the Son of God and that it is by grace through faith that I have been saved by His death and resurrection.
-› I will receive God's grace, live in God's grace and share God's grace with others.
  • Growth (Colossians 1:9-10)
-› I will be committed to a life-long process of spiritual growth; growth in the areas of wisdom, character, and obedience.
  • Group (Acts 2:46-47, John 17:20-21)
-› I will participate in a small group that pursues meaningful Christ-centered relationships for the purpose of transforming lives through the following practices: learning and applying God's word, encouraging each other, offering and receiving guidance, being real with each other, and holding each other accountable.
  • Gifts (Ephesians 4:11-16, 1 Peter 4:10)
-› I will serve God and others with my SHAPE (spiritual gifts, heart, abilities, personality, and life experiences) and a servant's heart.
  • Generosity (Psalms 24:1, 2 Corinthians 9:6-15)
-› I will view my life and possessions in terms of stewardship, managing all that God has entrusted to me according to his purposes.

How life changes when you’re a member

Becoming a member at Eagle Brook Church is more than just signing up to give regularly or getting onto a mailing list. It’s a responsibility and a commitment – and one of the first steps you’ll take in living a life more like Jesus.

As a member, you’ll learn how to be more obedient to God. You’ll work on building stronger relationships with family, friends, co-workers, and other members of the church, and learn to handle conflict in a God-honoring way.

In addition, new members often say that although they had been part of the Eagle Brook family for some time, after becoming a member they really felt like they belonged. Members get additional information that the general congregation doesn’t receive, as well as voting privileges. Membership can open the door for some volunteer leadership roles, and help students become eligible for certain scholarships and referrals.

In return, you’ll be expected to contribute your time, talent, and treasures to Eagle Brook, and to pray for the church and its leadership on a regular basis. You’ll also seek to serve more than to be served, and to value, respect, and honor everyone in the church family.

Most of all, you’ll be helping people experience the love, joy, and peace that you’ve been able to experience through your relationship with Christ. Sharing our church’s mission is what membership is all about. For more information, call the church office at 651-429-9227.
